(9,810 posts)Democrats have been objecting. In two hundred years, there have only been 9 choices for a cabinet position denied. That we're objecting to 6 so strongly is unprecedented. And while the narrative Yertle put out was of no cooperation, it was far more narrative than actual practice.

On Ben Carson: this is my personal opinion, and I could be wrong. I think he's ignorant of government, boneheadedly wrong on some of his opinions, and is typical of most neurosurgeons in that he's got a swelled ego. He's spent his life receiving flawed and just provably wrong information from his faith and does not think critically about his faith and the cultural aspects of it. But I do think he is capable of learning and critical thinking, capable of empathy, capable of evolving when exposed to better information than what he has gathered by osmosis. He seems to want to see HUD survive and the mission protected. I don't think he's bent on destruction, unlike, say, DeVos or Perry.
I get and often share the desire for a complete hands off, total resistance, but I also recognize how unprecedented the level of resistance is now.
