6. removing the tax exempt status

Would affect the viability of a lot of congregations.

Keep in mind that various congregations run homeless shelters, soup kitchens etc. Taking away their tax exempt status would negatively affect their social programs like the ones I mentioned.

A better approach would be to enforce the laws that require non-profits to steer clear of political statements.
