(89,521 posts)I think it's your second option. I don't think they care. I read a story about a longtime Democrat who declared she voted for trump because she was so angry, felt so left out of whatever recovery wasn't coming her way, felt folks like herself weren't being heard and she just wanted to "burn it all down", assuming that by doing so we could start from scratch and build a new Democratic Party. And I'm sure they didn't stop or even slow down to think about what might REALLY happen in response to these very REAL utterances and actions.
They're going with their gut. Emotional reactions and extreme impulsivity. Just what seems to feel satisfying right this minute. Over a longer term? Meh, fuck that. I'm ANGRY!
Problem is - when you're choosing someone to be your leader, you really need to go with your HEAD. Facts and reality and what IS (and does not lie to you or speak with a forked tongue). At least for me, something like that has always been head-over-heart. That's what made me marry whom I married. I made all my job choices that way, too. I never fully trusted my heart on the big stuff. And it's always worked out.
