In reply to the discussion: The Uncomfortable Love Affair Between Donald Trump and the New England Patriots [View all]DemocratSinceBirth
(101,850 posts)58. Let's unpack this, shall we?
Stop being obtuse
I like you when you're mad, ooh la la
Let me spell it out for you.
1.) You hate Bill Belichick for being friends with Trump. That's it, Belichick has never come out and said anything about Trump's policies.
He wrote a paean to his character , maligned those who questioned it, and hoped for his victory. That is an endorsement of his policies:
"Congratulations on a tremendous campaign. You have to help with an unbelievable slanted and negative media and have come out beautifully. You have proven to be the ultimate competitor fighter. Your leadership is amazing. I have always had tremendous respect for you for the toughness and perseverance you have displayed over the past year is remarkable. Hopefully tomorrows election, the results will give the opportunity to make America great again.
Best wishes for great results tomorrow,
Bill Belichick"
2.) You like FDR, even though he committed crimes that Trump hasn't even hinted he would imitate. FDR interned American citizens purely because of their race. FDR authorized attacks on civilians during WWII that would today be considered the most heinous of war crimes. Despite all of this, you quote him in your signature.
I like FDR because he ended the Great Depression, won WW ll, and built the safety net. What part of that don't you understand? Oh, the comparison between his character and Drumpf's is odious.
3.) My point is not that the FDR presidency was a net negative for the nation or the world...
Even a blind squirrel can find an occasional nut.
4.) I am just pointing out the irony inherent in your OP.
Sorry. I don't see it because there is none, apples and porcupines and all...
And as to your last line: those two things have nothing to do with each other! I am able to think Belichick is the greatest mad genius of all time regardless of whether he likes Trump. I'm not interested in conducting a political examination of all sports figures in order to determine who I should root for. Even then, there is no evidence to suggest Belichick thinks Trump's policies are good or bad.
I never said you weren't free to worship Bill Belichick. I just took umbrage at you using Franklin Delano Roosevelt as a foil.

I don't care. I want patriots to win. Politics in entertainment is not needed.

Are you using FDR as a foil to defend Belichick's, Brady's, and Kraft's support of Drumpf?

Blank is a nominal Democrat who gives to both parties. He isn't a true believer like us.

George Bush is a better human being than Donald Drumpf. The former is misguided. The latter is evil.
