(114,187 posts)And while the "Lamborns" of that area are disgusting in their politics, there is a vocal minority trying to change things--against a tide of military conservatism, fundamentalist RW Xian congregations with National support, and yes, regressive libertarian attitudes by many.
I am reminded of the Pat Robertsons of the world wishing "GAWD" to take action against the sinners--or at least suggesting why "GAWD" would/should not intervene where there are "evil homosexuals or liberals, or those evil, feminist women". Blaming these "sinners" for Hurricane Katrina or 911 or some other similar disaster.
Fires are not selective. As one who has been 15 miles away from the states largest in Northern Colorado for the past 18 days, I can tell you I sure as hell don't appreciate this attitude. I've already had to hear from those who assume the homes being burned all belong to millionaires--believing that the homes west of Fort Collins in Poudre Canyon and surrounding are multi-million dollar mansions like what they have seen near Aspen and Vail--not the 1950 and 60 era cabins and "normal" homes that frequent the area.
A little show of humanity would be nice.
