Or did she effectively just announce publicly that Mr Spicer will be fired as soon as they can find somebody else to replace him?

“I know people who are interested in the job, actually, as I stand here. They’ve reached out to us. And I think that we’ll be either interviewing or deciding what to do in that regard.”

I am sure that will help Mr Spicer's morale, although it might be the very best thing that could happen to him on a personal basis.
