Never thought I could live in the south until I discovered Chapel Hill in the 80's and with its history of
being progressive and interest in good public education we decided we'd go for it in 2000. My youngest
also graduated UNC Chapel Hill in 2012.
And then the awful gerrymandering after 2010 and the elections of 2012. You wouldn't think a state could go
downhill so fast...but wow...the Republicans have really attacked it. With HB 2 as a parting shot from McCrory, too.
I've been wanting to get out, but my husband and I can't agree on where to go. He loves the university town--which
still has its benefits although Spellings is out to destroy the university--and I just want to go somewhere that the gun nuts
and bigots aren't in control. So, here we sit. I would LOVE it if we could get fair districts redrawn and people would wake
up, but the state voted for Trump, too. Sigh.
Resist! Persist and resist! We're in.
