And anger and fear are closely related. Yes we are afraid, but should not show it. I think saying "#" indicates to people that he is just one more in a succession of presidents, and he is not the Almighty super power that he thinks he is. He's just another in a long line, and I don't think will be seen very well in the light of history!
You know how they say, "more heat than light"? We have to remember to be more "light" than "heat" to be taken seriously by the mainstream voter.
I look to Al Franken as the best model of this balance. He knows his stuff and is not afraid to say truth to power. In a respectful way. Just speaking the truth to them is enough! He focuses on behavior and calls it out.
