(11,423 posts)to sit around in her gilded tower and occasionally fly on AF1 for a photo op I think we're entitled to know what she's up to.
Although there is no formal definition of a president's wife's role, traditionally she (or her stand-in) has been responsible for supervising the White House and planning state dinners; in the last half-century the role has expanded to include advocating social actions that were important to her (Johnson's Highway Beautification, the Bushes' literacy programs, Obama's health and nutrition advocacy, Clinton's health care programs, even Reagan's anti-drug stance). Ms Trump doesn't seem to stand for anything, though. So her English isn't up to Michelle Obama standards - she can find an interpreter to help her if needed. She doesn't like being a public person? She can open a Twitter or Facebook account and advocate there.
Come to think of it, immigrants' rights would be a great topic for her!
