This goes beyond political calculation for me - Trump is in flagrant violation of the law, is unstable, incompetent - he is an existential threat to the US. Trump is more deserving of impeachment than any president, ever.
Pence is horrible - I suffered under his governorship, which was so bad that his successor is beating a hasty retreat from many Pence initiatives despite a Republican supermajority in the state legislature. But he is at least not completely mad.
I also disagree that Pence would be harder to beat. He'd lock down Christian right voters, but that's about it. Trump knew how to play the media in ways Pence can only dream of. Pence's chief skills are filling out a suit and speaking in Christofascist dogwhistles; he doesn't offer any of the "tear it all down" rage that drew so many to Trump.
