In reply to the discussion: Appreciation Thread for Washington Post, NYT, and even CNN lately [View all]lark
(26,081 posts)90. Agreed and appreciated.
I now watch CNN except on Sat. am when I watch Morning Joy. I recently subscribed to NYT for the first time ever and have bought several Newsweek's just to read Eichenwald's articles. We really need them right now with this unprecedented time of having a true traitor and criminal fraud and assaulter in charge. This is just so freaking awful and embarrassing to boot. I'm ashamed to be an American right now because of the harm that's been done to our country and the world by electing the shitgibbon.

OP
I agree. It's like post-campaign they realize that democracy is more important than ratings.

Kurt Eichenwald at "Newsweek" has also been great, but the magazine is a weekly, so he can't drop

Can I add Talking Points Memo and Slate as well? TPM set the standard before the majors

Excellent Point! I'm just grateful to see the Watergate exposers, the Gray Lady, and CNN

Even though they are not perfect and TV news can be "sensational" ....I'm grateful for the press.

I'm so glad I found this board too....saved my sanity. Best thing I found on the internet in 2016.

I'm feeling the same way. It's like post-election, they remembered their role in the system.

They can't really make up for the role they had in getting Trump in (especially CNN)

I so hear that, because maybe nobody normalized the Nazi more than CNN...

I do see your point, but to be fair WaPo and NYT kept the pressure on throughout the campaign.
