...and, as a cynical old man who's seen a lot, I rather think the odds are against us. I find this thought, paradoxically enough, curiously liberating--almost cheerful. At least we know what we're truly up against now. Either the GOP in its current form goes, or liberal democracy will. No one can plead ignorance anymore.
