(37,648 posts)She's really old and is not in good health. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I would have preferred her to have left years ago, so that the Dems could nominate a replacement
She's 83, past the normal life expectancy of females born in the 1930s. She has had colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, and heart trouble. At a certain age, all people start losing their mental sharpness. She's very tough and determined, but the body starts breaking down at a certain age for all humans.
OTOH, even if she'd retired, it's doubtful that Obama could have gotten confirmation for another justice equally liberal to Justice Ginsburg.
I hope she makes it another four years, at least. If she doesn't, the Republicans will put an extremist conservative in, and that's all she wrote.
