11. Unfortunately, people don't realize that local and state races....

have far more effect on their day-to-day lives than national races do. Property tax, sales tax, unemployment eligibility and payments, education funding, highway laws and enforcement: all these and more are regulated at the state level and yet people don't turn out. Everyone should be far more familiar with their state representatives than those holding national offices.
