and, if asked, my answer (in my best retired-teacher voice) will be, "Son, that little blue folder you're holding says I'm an American Citizen. So, unless you have a compelling legal reason to ask, it's actually none of your business."
(and I'm old- and grey-enough to get away to get away with calling the Border Agent "son"
