Flynn, for instance - he was widely disliked and mistrusted by the IC (intelligence community), and he was "taken down" by it after just one month on the job, in a pretty masterful fashion I have to say. Then Sessions, refusing to do the right thing an recuse himself, becomes the subject of an IC leak and voila - he has now recused himself.
The leak of the Steele dossier at the start of the Trump administration is starting to look like an epic and deliberate scene-setter, a way to signal to journalists and would-be investigators that "we in the IC believe this information to be true, but we can't reveal our sources, so it's your job to independently verify this information and go for the golden ring" - er in this case the golden shower
