(1,191 posts)People on Medicaid are the poorest of the poor - the disenfranchised. Often they don't think they have the right to speak up and/or they don't believe that it would do any good. These are low income Americans with disabilities, the children of single Moms, and the elderly poor. They don't write letters to Congress. They don't go down to town hall when they get mad in order to complain about something. Such actions are foreign to them, and some couldn't do these things even if they tried. I have been calling the office of my republican "representative" in Congress over the ACA and Medicaid. His staffers don't give a damn. They make it clear by the tone of their voice. It's depressing as hell and little different from some sort of eugenic cleansing of an unwanted class of people. The entire thing makes me most bitterly angry. I am disabled, 65 years-old, and I live on a tiny check from SSDI. I am completely dependent on Medicaid and the way things are going, it wouldn't surprise me if I and my fellow low income Medicaid recipients were basically left to die in the streets. Certainly that is what will happen to us if that doctor in Kansas has his way.
