This story tugs at my heart strings. I have six rescues currently. I lost my oldest and dearest friend, 12-year old Arlo, last March to cancer and I still mourn for him. All my cats were throw aways and have taken up space in my heart and home like family. We try to TNR (Trap, Neuter and Return) any strays that venture onto our property and a couple of them have stayed with us. This man is a hero and my hope is more people will try to keep the stray population down so there will be fewer animals dying in shelters ~ millions every year in this country alone.
