improved ratings or subscribers. That's why everyone who covers political news or other national stories is calling everyone he or she knows to see if there is more to discover. In addition, people who know something are looking for someone to to listen to their story. Trust is the issue, of course. People who can blow the whistle need to know they're protected.

Believe me, everyone who can is working on this story, from one direction or another. The major news outlets have someone coordinating all of the research and assembling things into a major breaking news story. We have no idea right now how close they are to breaking it, either. That is the most closely-guarded secret there is right now.

But, one morning, the news will explode and everyone will see it. Then, all the other news outlets will rush to release what they have, whether they were ready to break the story or not. It will be THE NEWS.

I can hardly wait. I wish I was in that area of journalism, but I never was.
