If Pence resigned (like Agnew), a new VP would be chosen (like Ford) and then if Trump resigned or was impeached, whoever was selected as VP would become president.

I don't think they'd pick Ryan to be VP if either of them left. That's why I say Graham or McCain, maybe governor Kasich.
