the determination of conservatives to support their chosen leader. After all, we saw them push aside several months absolutely filled with revelations that should have shocked and disgust them, and in fact did just that, to vote for the candidate who rose to the top anyway.

We also saw over those months elected representatives want to support their candidate, reluctantly seemingly be forced to reject him, then okay to embrace, reject, embrace and vote for him as they tried to read the way their constituents were blowing. For those voters, and for the many Republican authoritarian followers in office, it's emphatically not just self interest: It's about supporting der leader.

We ignore that reality at our peril. And, boy, should we now know that uber alles.
