of a Mexican teen when he shot at a group of youths playing (he claimed they were throwing rocks) on the other side of the border fence in Ciudad Juarez.
There have been other cases - at least 5 on a quick Google search, where there had been either border ranchers pursuing and killing unarmed migrants, or border patrol accused of excessive force near the border that resulted in the death of otherwise unarmed migrants. Most of the time, the defense is "s/he threw a rock at me", or "there were too many of them and I feared for my life."
