8. The American Dream is a myth used by the elite to control us.

Are the Repubs doing everything possible to help the elite on the backs of workers? Of course. Clinging to the American Dream isn't going to help in fighting against that. If anything, the Repubs are using the concept of the American Dream to garner support for their programs. Those that need help aren't working hard enough. If you make it, the Dems just want to tax you. Which is all false, of course, but relies on the myth of the Dream.
