47. I first saw her in Oscar and Lucinda, one of her first films.

I commented to my wife that I though she would be one of the great actresses after that film. That turned out to be very true. She's very versatile and seems to be able to take on any role, really. Few people saw Oscar and Lucinda, and I recommend it to all Cate Blanchett fans if they haven't seen it. You get a great glimpse into a young actress who was bound to succeed. It's a good movie, too.

I thought her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth should have gotten her an Oscar that year, too.
