(96,945 posts)You're attempting to separate your vote for Trump from the GOP as a whole. Almost as if you think he didn't run as a republican. As if you don't vote republican.
Now, Trump did lie about not touching Medicare but the GOP has never - and I mean never - denied wanting to get rid of beneficial services they call entitlements. So any vote for a republican is a vote to get rid of Medicare, Social Security, etc..
But here's the other thing - and it's important - Trump said he would repeal Obamacare and the ACA contains many provisions that affect Medicare - for the better. So, naturally, any repeal of the ACA would affect Medicare...and not to the good either.
So when Trump said he would repeal Obamacare and you cheered, and in the next breath he said he wouldn't touch Medicare - that's how you should have known he was lying to you. Since the ACA benefits Medicare. You can't repeal the ACA without "touching" Medicare.
So, yes, you did vote to screw away your Medicare and you did vote to eat dog food.
