but is it the hill I want to die on, rhetorically? Not really.

Still, the offender is a homeless registered sex offender, with multiple violent convictions dating back to 1999. He's probably been doing this shit his entire adult life, sounds like. The attack took place in an isolated restroom, not a Trump rally.

The OP makes it sound like he was wearing a MAGA hat and chanting "build the wall" when he attacked this woman.

I think there are a lot of good takeaways one can get from this story, like the importance of situational awareness and the woman's quite inspirational story of fighting back and kicking dude's ass. But trying to draw some wider sociopolitical conclusions strikes me as a bit spurious.

Maybe people should be asking why a violent sex offender serves less than a decade in prison when granny gets 20 years for a couple pot plants in her basement to ease her arthritis pain.
