Saccone(religious nut) filed with the FEC in February 2017 to run for United States Senate in the 2018 election, seeking to challenge incumbent Bob Casey, Jr., and officially declared his candidacy later that month.
The 59-year-old Saccone is one of the state Legislature's staunchest conservatives and is a strong backer of President Donald Trump.
