With everything he does, he shows he is there for the adulation, but what does he get? He is mocked, criticised, attacked, and challenged by the courts or his own party at every turn.

His reputation as a deal maker and a smart guy has been ripped to shreds.

He isn't interested in being president - too much hard work, too much learning, too much reading, too much compromise, too much working with people he doesn't like. These are all things he is incapable of doing.

He didn't expect to be president. He expected to boost his brand and his ego. His ego has been shattered. He is out of his depth in the most powerful position in the world, feeling he has no control for the first time in his life.

The weight of the media, of the people, of lawmakers, of judges, of those investigating him, of everyone around the world who has a negative opinion of him have crushed him.
