In reply to the discussion: The "liberal elite" [View all]herding cats
(19,615 posts)I've been busy, I'm sure I've missed a latest breaking outrage. I'm unapologetic.
Yes, we have some. Yes we have more people such as myself who aren't "elite" Democrats. Agree with the OP there.
Now for my less than polite tirade:
This isn't aimed at the OP, but if this is more infighting, I'm over it. This is me to everyone holding grudges - yeah, I was one angry person after the election, too - but we need to focus now. Our Democracy is at stake!
2018 is vital, 2020 is a CENSUS YEAR! Don't pretend it's going to be easy because of Trump, it won't. The seats up are mostly conservatives. 2016 was our big chance to chip away at this, and we came up short. Focus! Learn how our political system actually works. Research districts, learn about the people who live there. Educate yourselves on people not like you. I'm sorry, your ideals, dreams and beliefs aren't the same as everyone else you've never met, let alone engaged. People are extremely complicated, and they really don't all think like you do. Shocking I know, yet still true.
Also, there are no fairies, there is no Santa. We're up against real GOP political experts who know the all too well how the system works, and how to manipulat it and people's emotions (hello?) like the pros they are. That's a fact! If you doubt me look at our current national political unbalances. They've kicked our butts in the majority of local races. That's where it counts people, not the presidency! The presidency is peanuts compared to the power of committee. (Look it up.)
Now, please stop with this senseless infighting. I beg you. Look local and get INVOLVED. If you want change, that's where it starts. That's where we begin removing Republicans year after year, the same way they did to Democrats decades ago.
All politics is local.
Stop bickering. Get busy!
