I keep wondering if Nunes would wind up being the Egil Krogh, Charles Colson, James McCord, Dwight Chapin, Frank Sturgis, or ??? Those names were all lower down on the food chain from West Wing big shots like H.R. Haldeman, John Ehrlichman, John Mitchell and John Dean (Bannon, Priebus, Sessions, Don McGahn). They were the lower-hanging fruit who seemed to have been viewed as disposable assets - who could be sent to prison so the machinery could say America got its pound of flesh and some people did have to pay "that" heavy a price, but others would kinda slither through the fingers of justice and walk. Although in Watergate, the big guys had to go to prison for awhile, too.

These aren't perfect comparisons, between the players back then and now, of course. But it's an increasingly engrossing mental parlor game to play. And we could yet see some parallel lines developing as to who the designated fall guy(s) might be. Who gets thrown to the wolves to protect the very most inner inner-circles.

Notice - when some talking heads have mused about Mike Flynn - and whether his talking would enable investigators to nail an even bigger fish. He was National Security Advisor. There are few in that snake pit who'd qualify as being bigger.
