Asked why the President-elect would meet with a minority member of Congress to talk about foreign policy when he's putting a cabinet together, Gabbard spokeswoman Emily Latimer reiterated that the meeting was about foreign policy and Syria.

"President-elect Trump asked me to meet with him about our current policies regarding Syria, our fight against terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as other foreign policy challenges we face," Gabbard said in statement.
