You, by not putting your daughter in the 'worst' public school, are essentially telling me that the kids who don't have a choice but to go to those schools aren't as important as your child, that their parents must not care about their kids as much as you care about your child and that your child deserves a better education than THOSE children. It's a mindset, and you can justify it all you want about how you weren't going to sacrifice YOUR child's education. What about those children that are still there, in those schools that are in the 'death spiral'? Even the actions of *1* person matters. By opting out, you contribute to the problem. You say nothing you would have done would have made a damned bit of difference. I suppose not if that's how you view things. You got yours, I suppose. Too bad for those kids in that 'worst' school, who don't matter.
It's PARTICIPATION that makes the difference in public schools. If all that's left in those schools are kids with no resources, soon you end up with schools with no resources.
