60. Why did Russ Feingold and Katie McGinty lose winnable Senate races?

we should have two more liberal Dem Senators from Wisconsin and Pennsylvania as some sort of check against Trump and GOP BS. Why didn't these liberals win?

We even had a fighting chance with Jason Kander in Missouri.

Dean's 50 state strategy got us both houses in 2006 and the white house in 2008. Those Dem majorities in Congress got us 2 liberal female supreme court justices and a whole bunch of liberal laws and reforms before the tea party revolution. Having more Dems means long time liberals get promoted to committee leaderships and direct the legislative agenda. Liberals will still decide which bills come to a vote, and whip the votes as necessary. Red State moderates still toe the line on most of the issues that matter most to us.

When's the last time the ideological purist strategy worked for us?
