People are taking canoe trips on the river, and love it. From what I've been told, there are eagles nesting along it, now. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't eat any fish taken from it, but there are some really beautiful stretches.

The big problem with river water is the chemistry, no matter what river it comes from. It is, by nature, more caustic. They skipped a relatively inexpensive fix to treat the water, before it came to the pipes, but didn't think it worth while.

My family and the Kildees go way back, having grown up in the same section of the north end. When Dale Kildee was our Congressman, I always got a big hug when I saw him at political events.
