(7,550 posts)I am 5'2", wear glasses and have mostly white hair. I knew the tone and the words to say. I was particularly fond of "NO" without explanation or "It is my job to know the law about that". In case you are wondering, these were mostly used on visitors and doctors. My personal favorite when dealing with a man who wanted to see his newborn. He was not married to the mother and she did not want him to see the baby. I explained she would not allow it and there was nothing to be done. He said he would go get his friend "the judge". I said I would ask but I did not think she would let the judge see the baby either. Fortunately, since he was about 6'5", there were security guards standing around the corner in the hall. He finally gave up and left but I warned the next shift he might try again.
It is not my normal tone of voice.
