(4,187 posts)19. His only fault is that he was chosen to be tossed off the plane.
You can see the problem. If United had accepted his refusal, then other people would have seen that and concluded that they could also simply refuse to get off the plane. United didn't want to set a precedent. They put themselves in a situation where they couldn't accept no as an answer and therefore had to physically force the guy out. There are many problems with this, but the deepest one, IMO, is a lack of respect on the part of United for its customers.
