(150,493 posts)it avoids all the traffic of people trying to find the closest parking spot, and means you can just drive off when you're finished shopping. I started parking way out the second time someone backed into the side of my car when they were backing out of a parking space. Now, I drive into the parking lot, park near the exit, way out in left field, and avoid all of that nonsense. It works great. I don't have comprehensive coverage on my ancient Volvo, so if someone damages it and drives off, it's expensive.
It's a choice, but a pretty good one, it turns out. The only drawback is that they don't have cart corrals way out there, so you do have to push your cart back toward the store. I try to shop so I can carry all the stuff out of the store by hand.
Anything that cuts stress is a good thing, in my opinion.
