what kills me about conservatives, though - ALL OF THEM - is that if this happened to them they'd be outraged.

I'll take my Aunt (X) who is a primary proponent of right-wing crap on FB. Her son was just married in Texas last year. If she had been on the flight and United tried to bump her she would have flatly refused, saying she HAD to get to Texas. Rehearsal dinner, flower preparation, time with family - you know, priorities every bit as important as treating your patients.

If they dragged her out (which I doubt they would since she's a 60+ year old white female) I just KNOW she would be threatening lawsuits and putting it all over social media. I know it and I suspect deep-down so does she. She wouldn't be saying that "United was within their rights to drag me off the plane!" or "The people dragging me didn't work for United so it's not their fault!" She certainly wouldn't be insisting that: "My face was dripping blood but it was really all my fault since I didn't listen!"

As always with these people, it's the hypocrisy. Not so much the knee-jerk "Protect our political agenda above all else and no matter what" mindset. The constant, constant, unending attempts to get other people to live by standards they don't feel they have to adhere to when the chips are down.
