number of votes, that will encourage the local Democratic Party to work harder. Right now, in some districts, there's a sense that there's no point in fielding a candidate. We need to break that model in every district where a Republican can run unopposed.

Anyone who does this, of course, should be willing to do press interviews and show up at at least some venues to speak. While there might be little chance of actually winning, it's an opening of the door at a time when frustration with Republicans is high. It would take some effort, naturally, so it's not an idea for someone who isn't interested in getting the word out.
