While we all recognize basic concepts like INITIAL INVESTMENT - whether in time or labor or both -- for eventual later payoff -- Conservative brains seem to go on lockdown when this idea is introduced CULTURALLY.

Farmers would certainly understand the intense work and cost of planting-tending-harvesting for later profit.

But the idea of doing this for human beings more generally somehow escapes them, an in Educate Citizens - Help them become productive taxpaying citizens - Reap the multitudinous societal rewards.

Known as FREE TUITION in this case.

I peruse Redstate sometimes to see how they think. This article revealed how twitchy they get at the idea that "SOMEBODY MAY GET SOMETHING FREE, GODDAMMIT!"

The entire plan will effect everyone in a bad way except the people getting free college for four years that others are paying for.

New York’s taxpayer-financed tuition ensures that others will be on the hook for college costs for many years to come as the cost of tuition will only continue to rise.

This reckless plan feeds the notion that you no longer have to work for what you want anymore, and that you can just depend on others to pay for your college and career.

Now implementation details excepted, this core idea that rather than bolstering the economy and culture, everything will come unglued because free tuition equals genetic laziness (getting to class, participating, homework, tests, applying knowledge = NOT WORKING somehow??)

Didn't Conservatives ever hear of co-ops? Or the original insurance pools? People getting together to help each other out so ALL could succeed?? Even if it doesn't benefit YOU immediately?

What is wrong with these selfish bastards?

Didn't Jesus have something to say about this kind of thinking and behavior?
