2. I tend to agree; I have heard one legitimate complaint

Recent college graduates who are just beginning on the long road to paying off their student loans are naturally a bit miffed, but that's going to happen regardless of when this worthy program gets instituted. So, you have the government step in and mitigate their obligation. Which pisses off the people who economized for years to pay off their own student loans. So, you have government step in and pay them something?

I would have no problem with doing just that. It's a good investment in our citizenry, and in the grand scheme of the federal budget, not all that expensive. But you're going to have sell it all the way up and down the line to the selfish bastards.
