On Monday, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump held their first White House Easter Egg Roll. The annual event featured an appearance from the Easter Bunny, and offered a card-writing station, a reading nook, and if you can believe it some high-end savagery from the pint-sized guests.
As captured by the White House's official Snapchat, some of the children in attendance had the opportunity to decorate a mural on the lawn. But, as filmmaker Matthew Cherry pointed out on Twitter, there was something eye-catching about one of the drawings. Nestled up against the doodles of flowers and butterflies were three simple words that someone had written earlier in the day: "We miss Obama." Whoever wrote that, know this: a lot of people might agree with you.
What's more, USA Today reported that the Trump family's Easter Egg Roll didn't seem to be as popular as former President Obama's. The White House guest count for yesterday's event was approximately 21,000 down from turnout for the Obama-era Easter Egg Roll, which had about 35,000 guests. USA Today also notes that while Obama often offered a star-studded crowd take Beyoncé, who made an appearance in a previous year the biggest musical draw of Trump's event was the military band. Of course, the rain might have had something to do with it: Most of the attendees reportedly went home early when the weather turned sour.
