Historically the progressive movement has sometimes been nationalistic, racist and misogynistic.
It placed leftist economic policies above all others. I am a proud member of the Democratic Party and support all planks in the party platform including those espousing social and economic justice, racial and gender equality.
The fact that so many members of DU migrated to a site rife with misogyny and dog whistles to support a progressive candidate cemented my opinion. And I do not think that candidate necessarily exposed those vices, but as the saying goes 'you are known by the company you keep'.
