38. Once I slipped on ice and merely cracked one rib. The pain was excruciating. I couldn't

even breathe properly without agony. Your pain has to be a thousand times worse with more than one rib involved and with them broken rather than just cracked.

I am sorry this happened to you, and hope that you heal quickly. I hope, too, that the other guy has really good insurance for your car and your medical costs.

A cat's normal temp is 100° to 102.5°F, so that fever, though high, is not quite as terrifying as it would be in a human. I hope he gets well. One time two of my cats had fevers like that. The vet guessed West Nile. It was rampant that year and mosquitoes were bad that year, too. (West Nile gives cats fever and flu-like symptoms.)
