134. Just a string of lucky coincidences, mostly

Lots of "right place, right time," a few family connections, and a few of the right friends.

You'll like this one. I had always been on Howard's case to introduce me to Rachel Maddow (this was before I became friends with MSNBC's Krystal Ball). Then one time, I was bringing my elder daughter to the tiny airport in Provincetown, MA, at the tip of Cape Cod. I saw this tall slender woman with short hair walking toward the terminal, and she had big black glasses on. I said, "look, she must think she's Rachel Maddow or something." Well, it WAS Rachel Maddow. She held out her hand and said, "Hi, I'm Rachel," as if there was ANYBODY in Provincetown who DIDN'T know who Rachel was. I told her to please tell Howard, if he ever brought it up before I saw him next, that he was now officially off the hook to introduce us.
