Combine them with a stubborn refusal to accept women's and POC's lived experiences of sexism and racism as valid and the stage becomes set for an erosion of the gains that have been made in the last 40 years.
For example, I'm old enough to remember that 20 years ago the birth control pill was not nearly as controversial as it is now in some quarters. Pharmacists simply sold them in the '90s without whining about their so-called "consciences". Now, apparently, they "kill babies".
