President Obama donations to charity amount to about 15% of his income
Senators Sanders donation to charities amount to 5%.
In addition, President Obama will take his earnings for the speech as ordinary income, which thanks to President Obama's own policies, will include the .9% Medicare tax part of the ACA, and will be paying a marginal rate of 40% on that income. To the dismay of some it seems he will keep 60% for himself, of course based on his history of charitable giving, which some conveniently like to ignore, he will give some of that to charity.
This judgemental, and holier than though attitude that some have, is tiresome
There is nothing unethical, illegal, or immoral about this.
Perhaps those self-identified progressives who refused to vote for the Democratic nominee for President should reflect on the consequences of their actions, instead of how much someone gets paid for a speech.
