I think this is really the difference between the center-left Clinton/Obama wing and the left-populist Sanders/Warren wing.
The center-left, which represents most Dems and indeed most Americans (Clinton Dem presidential candidates have won 6 of the past 7 popular votes) views capitalism as a system that indeed can be abusive and unfair, but one that (as Hillary said in a debate w/Sanders) built the greatest middle class in history and the American way of life, and one that can (and should) be reformed to make it more open, fair and equitable for everyone. IOW, a balance between Wall St and Main St.
The populist-left on the other hand, sees capitalism (and financial ambition itself) as inherently evil, and thus should be abolished and replaced with a Euro-socialist style system.
