2. No! If you use the word 'democracy' in public, some Republican will shout you down, saying.......

,,,,,,,"This isn't a democracy, it's a republic!" The idea that a republic may embody democratic principles seems to evade them.

This debate, how much democracy should our republic contain, goes right back to the beginning. There are passages in the Constitution that limit the amount of actual democracy we could have.
