On talk circuit, George W. Bush makes millions but few waves

Since 2009, POLITICO has found, Bush has given at least 200 paid speeches and probably many more, typically pocketing $100,000 to $175,000 per appearance. The part-time work, which rarely requires more than an hour on stage, has earned him tens of millions of dollars.
Relative to the Clintons, though, hes attracted considerably less attention, almost always doing his paid public speaking in private, in convention centers and hotel ballrooms, resorts and casinos, from Canada to Asia, from New York to Miami, from all over Texas to Las Vegas a bunch, playing his part in what has become a lucrative staple of the modern post-presidency.

. . . He gave a few speeches. He dined well. He was interviewed on Japanese TV. And, after eight days, Ronald Reagan returned to his California ranch with an estimated $2 million that he didnt have before.
The former First Couple flew to Japan in a specially equipped Boeing 747, complete with bedroom and shower. They shared the plane, although not the bedroom or the shower, with a retinue of 20 staffers, a dozen Secret Service agents and 229 U.S. military dependents invited along for a free ride to visit their relatives stationed in Japan.

To Help US Veterans Charity, George W. Bush Charged $100,000
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/us-veterans-charity-george-bush-charged-100000/story?id=32251253
Former President George W. Bush charged $100,000 to speak at a charity fundraiser for U.S. military veterans severely wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, and former First Lady Laura Bush collected $50,000 to appear a year earlier, officials of the Texas-based Helping a Hero charity confirmed to ABC News.
The former President was also provided with a private jet to travel to Houston at a cost of $20,000, the officials said.
The charity, which helps to provide specially-adapted homes for veterans who lost limbs and suffered other severe injuries in the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, said the total $170,000 expenditure was justified because the former President and First Lady offered discounted fees and helped raise record amounts in contributions at galas held in 2011 and 2012.

An Illinois retirement board voted on Wednesday to end pension payments to the disgraced former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert for his years of service in the Illinois General Assembly.
The states General Assembly Retirement Systems board of trustees, which is made up of state lawmakers, voted 5-2 to terminate $755 in monthly payments Hastert was receiving for his three terms in the Illinois House of Representatives, according to Tim Blair, the board's executive secretary.
Hastert, the former GOP House Speaker, is serving a 15-month federal prison sentence for bank fraud related to an attempt to cover up hush-money payments he was making to a former student he sexually abused during his time as a high school wrestling coach and teacher more than 35 years ago.

Thanks, all of those on the left that complained about Obama speaking fee, you've been a great help.
I also added a few articles about past Presidents and how little they've made on the speaking circuit. Which is why someone like Bush has safely kept his pension.
Searching DU to see if anyone had posted about Chaffetz's pension story and found a gem as well. For close to a year you can hold on to your pension. Especially after you're found to have molested children and illegally paid other to keep quiet about your assaults. Just don't be the first black president or they'll come after you with the quickness.

Smell that? It is called bitterness and desperation and Chaffetz reeks of it.
